Find and export
your Amplitude data.

Amplitude reports event activity, while a raw export or connected warehouse provides a measurable data volume. Those quantities should identify the project and retained dates they cover.

Find your Amplitude data size

  1. Open Organization settings → Projects and review each relevant project's event volumes.
  2. Check Plans & Billing for the account's available retention and export features.
  3. If events are already exported to S3 or a warehouse, measure those files or tables in GB.
  4. Otherwise, measure a supported raw export and keep event count and date range with the result.
A monthly event total is different from retained all-time storage. Use it as context or a labelled estimate rather than an unexplained GB conversion.

What to include in your data inventory

Report in GB, stating compressed or extracted file size, or the warehouse measurement used. Add event counts and project scope.

Give the earliest retained event date, user or account coverage and the available export period.

Add the dates covered and the people who use this software. Label estimates and describe how you calculated them.

Export your Amplitude history

  1. In Amplitude Data → Catalog → Destinations, review supported warehouse destinations such as S3 or Snowflake.
  2. Arrange an authorized historical export for the dates the account retains.
  3. For smaller collections, have a developer use the Export API in date slices that fit its current limits.
  4. Collect every output part and preserve the project identifiers and event definitions.

Chart CSVs can be limited and represent reporting output. Raw event exports contain a different level of detail.

Plan retention and request-size limits determine the retrievable history. Check the project's existing warehouse archive for older saved data.

Why Amplitude data has value for AI training

Product events can show the sequence of actions taken during a business or customer task.

Event definitions and account context help explain which interactions lead to later outcomes.

What stays private

Choose projects, event types and properties in scope, reviewing user identifiers and sensitive behavioral fields.

Telegraph Lab reviews the proposed material with you and agrees how sensitive information will be handled. Preparation can include excluding material, redacting details and replacing personal identifiers. Your company keeps ownership; the licensing agreement defines the material, permitted uses and authorized recipients.

Common questions about Amplitude data

Can we convert monthly events directly to GB?

Measure event size from an export or storage destination and explain any estimate based on a sample.

Is a chart CSV the full event history?

Chart output has a narrower reporting scope and limits. Use a raw-event route for full records.

How far back can we export?

Check the plan's retention and existing company archives.

Should we keep event definitions?

Yes. They explain what each event and property means.
