Find and export
your Mixpanel data.

Mixpanel billing usage describes incoming event activity. A raw event export or retained warehouse copy provides a clearer measurement of the actual dataset in GB.

Find your Mixpanel data size

  1. Open Organization Settings → Plan Details & Billing and review usage and historical periods.
  2. Identify the projects and retained event dates in scope.
  3. Measure existing pipeline files or warehouse tables when available.
  4. Otherwise, obtain a supported raw-event export, total its file sizes and record the event count and dates.
Usage can be based on when events arrived rather than their original event dates. Backdated imports can affect the comparison.

What to include in your data inventory

Report in GB, stating the file or warehouse basis and project scope. Add event quantities and describe event properties.

Give the earliest retained business event date and distinguish separately exported user profiles from event records.

Add the dates covered and the people who use this software. Label estimates and describe how you calculated them.

Export your Mixpanel history

  1. Have an authorized developer use the Raw Event Export API for each project.
  2. Select the correct project region and retrieve non-overlapping date ranges within the current limits.
  3. Save all event output and preserve the event definitions and project identity.
  4. Review Data Pipelines where enabled, checking its historical backfill coverage and separately retained profiles.

Raw exports provide event records and their properties in a line-oriented JSON representation.

Retention and pipeline backfill limits can differ. Check older history before treating a new pipeline as a complete archive.

Why Mixpanel data has value for AI training

Event sequences can show how people complete tasks within a product.

Property definitions and account context can explain where a sequence succeeds, changes course or stops.

What stays private

Select events and properties in scope, reviewing personal identifiers and sensitive behavioral data.

Common questions about Mixpanel data

Does billing usage equal dataset size?

It measures event usage. Measure the exported records or retained storage for GB.

Can a new pipeline backfill all history?

Check the pipeline's supported historical period and the raw events still retained.

Are user profiles the same as event records?

They are separate data types and can need separate export routes.

Which regional API should we use?

The project administrator should confirm the region and supported export host.
