Find and export
your Confluence data.

Confluence storage and space reports describe the knowledge base. The exported content depends on whether you collect a site backup or selected spaces and whether attachments are included.

Find your Confluence data size

  1. Use Confluence administrator access in admin.atlassian.com.
  2. Open the site or app and review Storage.
  3. Where available, open Confluence Administration → Settings → Space Reports and export the CSV.
  4. Record storage in MB, with content and attachment counts for the spaces in scope.
Site storage and export size can differ. Record which measurement you used and whether attachments or older content are represented.

What to include in your data inventory

Report in MB, identifying the site or spaces and the attachment scope. Add page and space counts where available.

Give the oldest retained content date, users represented and any separate database or app material.

Add the dates covered and the people who use this software. Label estimates and describe how you calculated them.

Export your Confluence history

  1. As an authorized admin, open Settings → Data management → Backup manager.
  2. Select Backup attachments when files are required and create the cloud backup.
  3. Download the completed file promptly, before creating another backup that can replace it.
  4. For a selected space, open Space settings → General → Export space and choose the supported format appropriate to the material.

Site and space exports have different coverage of comments, versions and other content. Review those requirements before selecting a format.

Confluence databases and third-party app data may need separate export routes. Confirm their inclusion in the completed collection.

Enable the attachment option in the supported backup route and check the resulting files.

Does a PDF space export preserve everything?

Formats have different coverage. Review comments, blogs, versions and other content needed.

Are database and app contents guaranteed in the backup?

Check them separately and use their supported export routes where required.
