Find your Google Meet data size

  1. Identify the staff who organized recorded meetings.
  2. In their Drive accounts, open Google Meet and its meeting folders. Check Legacy Meet Recordings for earlier recordings.
  3. List the retained video files and total their durations, or measure a representative sample for a clearly labelled estimate.
  4. For organization-wide discovery, ask the administrator to search Drive and Meet through Google Vault, where licensed.
Meet activity logs can show participant duration. Summing attendance time is different from measuring the retained recording's length.

What to include in your data inventory

Report in hours, with recording count, dates and organizers represented. Describe available transcripts, captions, chat logs and attendance files.

Recording files also form part of Drive storage. Note that overlap if both inventory lines are reported.

Add the dates covered and the people who use this software. Label estimates and describe how you calculated them.

Export your Google Meet history

  1. Select the relevant meeting folders in Google Drive and download the recordings and accompanying files.
  2. For an organization-wide collection, use an authorized Vault search and export covering the agreed recordings.
  3. Alternatively, ask a super administrator about Workspace Data Export and its Drive coverage.
  4. Preserve meeting-folder names and associated text or attendance files when available.

Current Meet recordings are stored in the organizer's Google Meet folder. Google moved older Meet Recordings folders into Legacy Meet Recordings from July 2026.

Vault and Data Export have different scopes and expiry windows. Download all archive parts and check the result summary.

Why Google Meet data has value for AI training

Recorded meetings can link spoken reasoning with presented slides and working documents.

Retained meeting context can show how a team moves from a discussion to agreed actions.

What stays private

Select the business meetings and organizers in scope, reviewing participant consent and confidential content.

Telegraph Lab reviews the proposed material with you and agrees how sensitive information will be handled. Preparation can include excluding material, redacting details and replacing personal identifiers. Your company keeps ownership; the licensing agreement defines the material, permitted uses and authorized recipients.
