Find and export
your Odoo data.

Odoo stores structured app records and attached files separately within its backup setup. Identify whether the company uses Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or a self-hosted system before choosing the export route.

Find your Odoo data size

  1. Use an administrator account with access to the companies and apps in scope.
  2. Open the relevant app in list view and remove filters that hide retained records.
  3. Record counts for invoices, journal items, sales orders or other relevant types.
  4. Keep the company, app and record definition with each quantity.
An administrator's multi-company selection and record rules can affect visible counts. Confirm the intended scope.

What to include in your data inventory

Report in records, with each app and record type identified. Describe attachments and any external files separately.

Give the deployment type, oldest retained business dates and users represented.

Add the dates covered and the people who use this software. Label estimates and describe how you calculated them.

Export your Odoo history

  1. On Odoo Online, open the database manager, choose the database and use Manage → Download Backup.
  2. On Odoo.sh, review the production branch's Backups tab and download a backup including the filestore.
  3. For self-hosted Odoo, have the administrator back up the database and matching filestore.
  4. For selected tables, use the list view's Export action and choose the required fields.

A list export contains selected record fields. The filestore contains attachments and other binary content that a database-only copy can omit.

If an Online database is too large for Download Backup, Odoo directs customers to support for another download solution.

Why Odoo data has value for AI training

Odoo can link sales and service operations with inventory and accounting events.

Custom fields and attachments can add the business context behind each step.

What stays private

Select the companies, apps and records in scope, reviewing sensitive financial, customer and personnel data.

Telegraph Lab reviews the proposed material with you and agrees how sensitive information will be handled. Preparation can include excluding material, redacting details and replacing personal identifiers. Your company keeps ownership; the licensing agreement defines the material, permitted uses and authorized recipients.

Common questions about Odoo data

Why name our hosting type?

Online, Odoo.sh and self-hosted deployments have different backup controls.

What is the filestore?

It holds attachments and other binary files associated with database records.

Does a list export copy the whole system?

It exports the selected record fields and scope. A broader backup has different coverage.

Why is Download Backup disabled?

Odoo says a database may be too large for that route. Contact support for an alternative.
