Phone and call recordings

Find and export
your Gong data.

Gong's call exports provide conversation metadata and durations. The audio and transcript collection is separate, and retained library calls can differ from the account's ordinary retention window.

Find your Gong data size

  1. Use a role with Export reports to CSV permission.
  2. Open Conversations → Search and filter the calls and dates in scope.
  3. Choose More actions → Download call data, then send the report by email.
  4. Count unique calls and sum their duration. Convert minutes to hours by dividing by 60.
Team statistics can include several participants in one call. A unique call list helps avoid counting the same recording more than once.

What to include in your data inventory

Report in hours, with unique call count and the retained period. Describe audio, video, transcripts and conversation metadata available.

Include the team members represented and mention library calls or separate backups that extend the history.

Add the dates covered and the people who use this software. Label estimates and describe how you calculated them.

Export your Gong history

  1. Export the filtered call-data CSV with the relevant metadata categories.
  2. Ask a technical administrator about Gong API access for the agreed calls, transcripts and media.
  3. Retrieve the supported resources, following paging and request limits.
  4. If the company has Data Cloud, review the existing warehouse or storage destination and its coverage.

The call-data CSV holds metadata and analytics. Confirm audio and transcript collection separately.

Retention policies can remove older calls, while some library content may be retained differently. Check the actual available history.

Why Gong data has value for AI training

Recorded sales conversations can connect questions and objections with how a salesperson responds.

CRM links and later outcomes can add context about which actions followed the discussion.
