Phone and call recordings

Find and export
your Twilio data.

Twilio recordings are separate resources with their own identifiers and durations. Their inventory can describe stored audio more directly than a recent Voice Insights report.

Find your Twilio data size

  1. Open the Twilio Console's Call Recordings area for the relevant account or sub-account.
  2. Review recording and recording-storage usage for a count and stored minutes.
  3. For an exact collection count, ask a developer to list completed resources through the Recordings API.
  4. Sum recording durations and convert seconds to hours by dividing by 3,600, or stored minutes by 60.
Measure stored recordings rather than monthly recording charges or recent call counts. Identify each sub-account represented.

What to include in your data inventory

Report in hours, with recording count, dates and account scope. Describe audio channels and any available transcriptions.

State whether the figure came from usage totals or the retained recording resources. Mention company backups separately.

Add the dates covered and the people who use this software. Label estimates and describe how you calculated them.

Export your Twilio history

  1. Have a developer list the recording resources for the dates and accounts in scope.
  2. Retrieve every page and download the audio using the authorized media URLs.
  3. Keep recording identifiers, call identifiers and duration metadata beside each file.
  4. Collect available transcription resources separately when they are part of the scope.

Twilio supports WAV and MP3 recording downloads. Media access requires the appropriate account authorization.

Deleted recordings and recent analytics can have different metadata retention. Check actual media availability before reporting older hours.

Why Twilio data has value for AI training

Audio can preserve how a business handles customer requests through its own phone application.

Call identifiers and associated application records can connect the conversation to a resulting action.

What stays private

Select the accounts and recordings in scope, reviewing sensitive conversations and recording permissions.

Telegraph Lab reviews the proposed material with you and agrees how sensitive information will be handled. Preparation can include excluding material, redacting details and replacing personal identifiers. Your company keeps ownership; the licensing agreement defines the material, permitted uses and authorized recipients.

Common questions about Twilio data

Should we use Voice Insights for all-time volume?

Use retained recording resources or stored-recording usage for audio volume. Voice Insights has its own reporting window.

Can the Console download the whole account at once?

A larger collection is usually an API retrieval of recording resources and media files.

Are transcripts always available?

Check whether transcription was enabled and which transcript resources remain.

Which formats can we retrieve?

Twilio supports recording media in WAV or MP3, subject to the applicable media authorization.
